http://www.criticalthinkrx.org

The Critical Curriculum on Psychotropic Medications is a FREE online or home study course that provides up to 12 continuing education (C.E.) credits for counselors, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health practitioners, and up to 14 C.L.E.R credits for attorneys.
Anyone may freely view or download the course materials or take the course.
To obtain and print your Certificate of C.E. Credits, you need simply: (1) register, (2) view the curriculum and pass the tests, and (3) complete a brief course evaluation.
CriticalThinkRx, funded at Florida International University, seeks to educate professionals in child welfare and mental health, but especially those with non-medical training. The curriculum developed for this project is available on this website, free of charge, for anyone who is interested.

Deep Breathing/health DVD's and video

I have a video made in 1996 called "Shim Shin Key". It has deep breathing, self massage w/ a wooden rope roller, more deep breathing with movement, and ends with meditation. I love it, and realized it is a perfect thing for class participants. Unfortunately it is also out of production!

So I called the Collage Video site where I bought it, and they recommended two DVD's that are similar-- except no self-message. "Qi Gong fire & Water" Tai Chi. They said it is "very calming, rejuvenating & nurturing". The other one is "Crunch Candlelight Yoga" with Sarah Ivanhoe. They both include deep breathing exercises and some meditation along with respective exercises. That website is www.ColageVideo.com.

My husband found a self-massage rope roller after looking for some time on the internet. It's on a website called Lucky Vitamin.com. It's called the Double Rope massage roller. If only Jhoon Rhee would do another Shim Shin Key video. It's perfect! And he served as an advisor to Presidents Reagan and Bush so it makes it real ligit. Oh well. Any of you want to make an exercise dvd?

Health to All!

The Road Back

If time allows, you may want to familiarize yourselves with Jim Harper's work prior to our meeting on Saturday. His book, which outlines the program he has developed, is available free of charge, via this link on his website: http://www.theroadback.org/workbook.htm

Happy reading!

I'll see you on Saturday!

Hello Friends!

I am so happy to have a home to call our own (Thank you, Jacob!), and I look forward to stepping out into this wonderful new adventure with all of you - one that encompasses our dreams and hopes for a better world and a brighter future for our children!

It was great meeting those of you whom I had only communicated with before, and a double pleasure to be with those of you I have already added to my family of friends. I hope we will have Dr Curtain and Dr Fila grace us with their presence at our next meeting!

May God bless us - each and everyone of us - the dreams of our hearts, the integrity of our thoughts and the work of our hands!

Saturday Jim Harper Training

Dear Gang,

Here are the details on the Saturday training. Although monitoring of this process is best left up to MD's and ND's, I think it is worthwhile to be up-to-date with the best research on tapering, so we can teach basic principles in our classes.

Here's the scoop: The nation's premiere expert on safe tapering procedures for psychiatric medication, Jim Harper, will be in town (see www.theroadback.org) this Saturday. Jim regularly trains physicians all over the world, especially Europe, in the latest research on the issue. It will be a fairly intimate gathering at a residence in Bountiful, so there should be plenty of time to ask any questions you have.

The training will go from 11-5:30 and lunch will be provided. Location: Ed Fila--1373 East Skyline Dr, Bountiful , Utah 84010(Take 400 North and go east to 1300 East. then turn left(N). This becomes Skyline).

Feel free to e-mail me or call my cell if you have any questions or would like more details (801-712-1346). Please RSVP to me by Thursday if you can make it and I will reserve a spot. Also, you are welcome to forward this to any other MD or other professional who you think might have interest. There may be a few more spaces still left.

Regards,
--Jacob
